It's not because you can use the software that it means that the application is good, software needs to be sustainable, ideally in the long term. And by sustainable we mean:

• How easy the application is to be changed and extended?
• Can you go from 10 to 100 thousand users without having to rewrite the application?
• Can you offer at least 99.9% of uptime to your users?
• Do you need to worry too much about the security of the data in your application?

The ideal candidate:

PixBuffer Software is looking for Python developers with experience on web application development and a minimum of one year of experience in Django.

Qualifications:

• Good SQL knowledge and databases, PostgreSQL is a plus
• Strong XHTML, CSS and Javascript skills, hands on experience with jQuery is a big plus
• Experience using version control software, Git is a plus
• Excellent command of the English language and good communication skills
• Good understanding of good code practices and standards. We also expect that you follow PEP-8 style guide and use tools like Pyflakes and Pylint very often
• Easy-going personality. You will actively participate in design discussions and code review

Job Description and responsibilities:

This is a part-time position, we are looking for contractors who will be working from home. We will accept candidates living anywhere in the world.

Responsibilities:

• Implementation and maintenance of web applications written in Python and Django. Database will be PostgreSQL and we use jQuery as our standard Javascript library
• This position involves working on a range of small and medium size projects of custom Django applications of a variety of domains. Some projects might be entirely new, others involve maintenance of existing code base
