About the Company:
Since 1994, Second Story has conceptualized, designed, and developed interactive media experiences in diverse formats that enchant, inform, and entertain—pioneering ever more effective ways to inspire wonder and connect audiences to ideas and information.
The ideal candidate:
Second Story seeks a front-end Web developer to build innovative Web sites using HTML/CSS and JavaScript. The front-end Web developer is an accomplished developer who is passionate and knowledgeable about the opportunities modern Web UI frameworks provide to build informative, useable, and inspiring Web sites.
- An effective communicator that successfully collaborates with designers, producers, developers, engineers, fabricators, and contractors.
- An experienced Web developer well versed in advanced JavaScript programming, building dynamic user interfaces, and translating wireframes and designs to standards compliant HTML and CSS.
- A usability advocate working with team members to ensure an inspiring and useable end product that is successful for diverse audiences across multiple browsers and platforms.
- A driven innovator with experience in various and diverse types of Web technologies on different platforms; a tinkerer that likes to try different approaches.
- A practical, pragmatic innovator whose solutions elicit responses that justify the effort and expense.
Job Description and responsabilities:
As a core part of the project team the front-end Web developer informs the designer’s creative vision, builds prototypes to prove concepts, creates development plans, and implements the architecture and executes the code to ultimately translate designs into engaging interactive interfaces.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a rewarding career to inform, inspire, educate, enchant, and entertain—as opposed to brand, market, and sell—audiences through diverse projects for significant and influential cultural institutions. This position is located in Portland, Oregon, with a very competitive, comprehensive salary and a benefits package that includes medical, dental, disability, employer-contributed 401(k), and professional development funds.
